Bukidnon educator named as 2023 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipino for Teachers

TAGUIG CITY, August 29, 2023 – DepEd Region X Bukidnon Master Teacher Rex M. Sario was declared as one of the awardees of the 2023 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipino for Teachers.

After a thorough validation and interviews, Mr. Rex M. Sario, MAT, Master Teacher 1/Teacher-in-Charge, Balogo Elementary School, Division of Bukidnon, was named as one of the four teachers who bagged the award during the conferment ceremony at Grand Ballroom, Grand Hyatt Manila, Taguig City, on August 29.

“As one of the founders of Balogo Elementary School, I have the privilege to start everything right. One of the very important things that I have instilled in my mind is to increase my value. I will always motivate my fellow teachers to give your best, we will provide quality education,” Sario said in an interview.

Mr. Sario spearheads transformative learning adapting to the modern ways of teaching children. An iconic figure in envisioning the future in line with the Department of Education’s MATATAG agenda, which call for resilient changes to the curricula, educational services, and facility requirements as well as to the wellness of students and programs for supporting teachers. He is regarded as the Bukidnon’s Icon for Transformative Education in the Modern Age.

DepEd X Regional Director Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot, CESO III, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Sario. “At least in my incumbency in Region X, I have seen how Rex Sario works consistently in doing his mandates as a public school teacher in a very remote school in Pangantucan, Bukidnon. He creates, innovates, challenges the status quo, and delivers. He goes extra mile especially on negotiation, partnership, and collaboration to generate support and involvement from the community for the school children’s improved learning outcomes and welfare,” Bayocot said.

Since 2018, Mr. Sario has become the fourth recipient of the award from Northern Mindanao. He exemplifies the Metrobank Foundation tagline Beyond Excellence by demonstrating character, competence, and compassion that Filipinos can aspire for.

In 2018, Mr. Sario was also a National Finalist for the Brightest Science Teacher Academy for the Regions (STAR). Indeed, for the Win, DepEd NorMin!

The award is the flagship program of Metrobank Foundation, and the conferment event is one of the centerpieces of its anniversary celebration. It is the most prestigious career-service award that recognizes Filipino exemplars in public service who best epitomize the values of patriotism, integrity, courage, and social responsibility in the education, military, and police sectors.

DepEd NorMin undergoes Inter-Regional Internal Quality Audit (IQA), celebrates Office’s conformity

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, June 20, 2023 – DepEd Region X underwent the onsite Inter-Regional Internal Quality Audit (IQA) at the Regional Office X, on June 19-20.

The activity is part of the Department’s efforts to ensure that the Regional Office (RO) and its operating divisions, sections, and units effectively implement the Quality Management System (QMS) in conformance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements and the National Quality Management System (NQMS) Standards.

The regional internal auditors from DepEd Region VI, headed by the Lead Auditor Dr. Jude Thaddeus I. Iledan, together with Dr. Leilanie F. Sindingan, Dr. Jingky L. Dioso, and Dr. Ruby T. Llave, evaluated the RO’s conformity with the ISO 9001:2015 requirements, laws, and regulations; assess the documented information’s conformity with the established QMS; evaluate its effectiveness; and identify opportunities for improvement.

The audit scope categories were the management process, core process, and support process. Included in the audit were the stated procedures, declared processes, planning documents, operations manuals, and other relevant references pertaining to the standard requirements.

DepEd X Regional Director Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot, CESO III, welcomed the auditors at the Regional Office (RO) and wished everyone success. “All our ISO efforts are essential in strengthening and sustaining workplace efficiency and productivity and keeping our organization attuned to the challenges of the continuously changing learning landscape, thereby ensuring increased client satisfaction,” he said.

During the closing meeting, the auditors presented their findings as follows: 26 Conformities (Cs), eight Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs), with no non-conformities (NCs).

Following these findings, the Office must maintain the best practices highlighted in the audit results, address the areas for improvement, and document and track the advancements made.

Under the supervision of the Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development–Organization Effectiveness Division (BHROD-OED), this undertaking is part of the Office’s preparations for the Regional ISO 9001-2015 Certification in October 2023.

Meanwhile, Dr. Federico P. Martin, CESO V, officer-in-charge, Office of the Assistant Regional Director, expressed his gratitude to the auditors for the inter-region al audit's success, especially to the RO personnel for their cooperation and dedication in faithfully and efficiently achieving the Department's goals.

The Department of Education Regional Office X is committed to providing quality and efficient services to all stakeholders, especially learners, for better client satisfaction.
