CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, November 13, 2023 – The Department of Education (DepEd) Region X has concluded its 2023 Regional Research Conference at De Luxe Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City, on November 13-14.
Themed “Transformative Research through MATATAG Innovations,” the activity marks a significant leap forward in advancing transformative research and educational development.
Back-to-back with the Launching of the Regional Education Development Plan (REDP), Divisional Education Development Plan (DEDP), and School Improvement Plan (SIP), the conference showcased oral research presentations by divisional winners across various themes: Theme 1 - Teaching and Learning; Theme 2 – Child Protection; Theme 3 – Human Resource Development; Theme 4 – Governance; Cross-Cutting Theme: Inclusive Education, particularly Alternative Learning System (ALS).
The presentations were a testament to innovative approaches and solutions addressing critical issues in education, reflecting the depth and breadth of research excellence within the Region.
Moreover, the conference served as the platform for the unveiling of the REDP, DEDP, and SIP as the Region’s educational roadmaps.
Aligned with the Department’s Basic Education Development Plan 2030 (BEDP 2030), the REDP framework stands as a strategic guidepost, aiming to elevate the delivery and quality of basic education, enriching the students’ learning environment.
Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot, CESO III, regional director, expressed full support for the event, emphasizing its pivotal role in fostering educational growth and innovation. “We must put our hands together because we are stronger if we work as one. That is the power of strong and genuine collaboration,” he said.
Engr. Romela N. Ratilla, DPA, regional director, represented by Mr. Virgilio M. Fuertes, assistant regional director, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), also extended support to the initiative, acknowledging its importance in driving progress in education.
Around 400 participants attended the face-to-face event, which attracted a diverse array of educational leaders, including schools division superintendents, assistant schools division superintendents, chiefs and supervisors of the Regional Office (RO) and Schools Division Offices (SDOs), senior education program supervisors, education program specialists in planning and research, research coordinators, public schools district supervisors, school heads, teachers, and research fellows.
Likewise, representatives from higher education institutions participated as research panelists, contributing to a collaborative and enriching exchange of ideas.
Meanwhile, in his message, Dr. Federico P. Martin, CESO V, assistant regional director, emphasized the importance of sustaining an excellent research culture to address various educational concerns and provide learners with the quality education they deserve.
The annual event embodies the Department’s commitment to pioneering research and strategic planning, essential in shaping the future of education in the Region.
