300 NorMin school leaders trained on revised K to 12 curriculum

Cagayan de Oro City — Three hundred DepEd X school leaders and supervisors were capacitated during the Training of Trainers (TOT) for the Regional Training of School Leaders (RTSL) – Phase 2 of the Revised K to 12 Curriculum.

Spearheaded by the Human Resource Development Division (HRDD) at the National Educators’ Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) – Region X, the training complied with DepEd Memorandum DM-OUHROD-2025-1064 or the “Conduct of Revised K to 12 Curriculum Capacity Building Activities (Phase 2),” which directs all regional and schools division offices to implement capacity-building initiatives for school leaders and supervisors.

The Memorandum underscores the Department’s priority to strengthen instructional leadership and ensure the smooth implementation of curriculum reforms nationwide.

To ensure wide participation and efficient delivery, the capacity-building initiative was carried out in four clusters encompassing all 14 Schools Division Offices (SDOs) in Northern Mindanao.

Cluster 1, held from September 3-5, brought together school leaders from Misamis Occidental, Oroquieta City, Ozamiz City, and Tangub City. On September 10-12, Cluster 2 included participants from Cagayan de Oro City, Camiguin, Gingoog City, and El Salvador City. Cluster 3, conducted from September 29 to October 1, trained school heads and supervisors from Bukidnon, Malaybalay City, and Valencia City. The series concluded with Cluster 4 on October 6-8, covering the Divisions of Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, and Misamis Oriental.

A total of 300 school leaders and supervisors were capacitated to prepare for the upcoming division-level training of school leaders. The program featured 12 comprehensive sessions facilitated by 26 learning facilitators representing all 14 divisions in Region X, who served as the core trainers throughout the series.

The training aimed to equip school heads and district supervisors handling Grades 2, 3, 5, and 8 with an in-depth understanding of the principles, content changes, and instructional shifts embedded in the Revised K to 12 Curriculum. This endeavor aligns with the national goal of strengthening curriculum implementation and promoting effective instructional leadership at the school level.

A key highlight of the TOT was the inspirational message from Regional Director Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot, who commended the participants for their commitment and urged them to continue leading with purpose and excellence as they bring the reforms to their own divisions and schools.

“We need transformative school leaders who can create a positive change amidst the continuously changing educational landscape,” he added.

The training marks another milestone for DepEd Region X in ensuring that curriculum reforms translate into improved teaching and learning outcomes through well-prepared, empowered, and visionary school leaders.
