DepEd Region X holds turnover ceremony of robotics kits and financial grant

Cagayan de Oro City, September 4, 2025 — The Department of Education (DepEd) Region X spearheaded today the Turnover Ceremony of Robotics Kits from the Rotary Club of West Cagayan de Oro (RC West CDO) and the Financial Grant from the Department of Health (DOH) at the Audiovisual Center (AVC), DepEd Regional Office X, Cagayan de Oro City.

The event highlighted the strong partnership between DepEd X, headed by Regional Director Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot, CESO III, and external stakeholders in advancing the Science, Technology, and Engineering (STE) Program, which aims to foster creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills among learners.

The Rotary Club of West CDO, District 3870, provided robotics kits valued at P1.7 million and facilitated capacity-building training for teachers handling the Creative Technology subject.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health – Center for Health Development Northern Mindanao (DOH CHD–NM), under the leadership of Regional Director Dr. Sulpicio Henry Legaspi Jr., represented by Dr. Raymond G. Dela Cruz, officer-in-charge, Office of the Assistant Regional Director, turned over a P700,000 financial grant to fund scientific research projects of STE learners in preparation for the Regional and National Science and Technology Fair.

Present during the ceremony were Schools Division Superintendents (SDSs/ASDSs), Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) Chiefs, Science Education Program Supervisors (EPSs), School Principals, and Creative Technology Teachers from recipient schools across Northern Mindanao.

Among the schools receiving robotics kits and financial assistance were Manolo Fortich NHS, Malaybalay City NHS, Gusa RSHS, Camiguin NHS, Iligan City NHS, Ozamiz City NHS, Tangub City NHS, and Valencia NHS, along with other secondary schools in Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, and other divisions in Region X.

Assistant Regional Director Dr. Federico P. Martin, CESO V, graced the activity and emphasized that the support from the Rotary Club of West CDO and DOH CHD–NM is a testament to the collaborative efforts of government and civic organizations in ensuring learners’ access to modern educational tools.

Also in attendance were Rotary Club District Governor Atty. Marlowe Mai Selecios, Past District Governor Hubert B. Quiblat, Immediate Past President Dr. Dures Fe E. Tagayuna, President Roena Ibay-Bince, and other Rotarians who inspired the teachers and participants.

Partner stakeholders such as the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) also pledged support. The USTP will assist in teacher capacity building while the DOST will help monitor the implementation of the cash grant.

The turnover ceremony is expected to further strengthen DepEd’s commitment to providing quality education and technological opportunities for the youth of Northern Mindanao. |Public Affairs Unit (PAU)
